Preservation Landscape Architect

Heritage Landscapes LLC, Preservation Landscape Architects & Planners, Charlotte, VT, a leading firm in cultural landscape preservation, is seeking qualified landscape architects (BLA or MLA) to participate in exciting and challenging projects addressing properties of cultural and historical value. The specialized practice of the firm encompasses historic preservation planning, implementation and management of cultural landscapes for municipal and national parks, parkways, museums, institutions, historic sites, battlefields, estates, and other historic properties. Currently we have over twenty great projects underway in Shelburne and Sharon, VT, Pittsburgh, PA, Washington DC, Austin, TX, Morris County, NJ, Louisville, KY and elsewhere addressing stewardship of historic and natural resources in cultural landscapes. Patricia M. O’Donnell, FASLA, AICP principal, is based in Charlotte, VT. The position is in the Vermont office.

Applicants of all levels of experience will be considered; however, interest and experience in preservation landscape architecture and planning is required.  All candidates must have sound organizational and communication skills, be highly motivated and able to work effectively both independently and in a collaborative team. Key areas of effective performance include:

  • Drawing in ACAD and Photoshop
  • Writing as a team effort in the office voice
  • Teamwork to achieve award winning results

Research, writing, and computer skills in AutoCAD, Adobe design applications, and word-processing are required. We upgrade our programs regularly and currently use the AutoCAD 2007 and 2009 platforms Applicants with several years of experience should demonstrate increasing levels of professional responsibility, successful project management, and development of contract drawings and construction administration skills.
